Georgetown?s combination of freshmen Michael Halloran and Patrick Harrigan and senior Paul Perillo though were unable to hold off the Eagles offense in the seventh and eighth as the Hoyas lost 9-2. In Game Two the Hoyas, despite their inability to produce any offense until the seventh inning, trailed just 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. Freshman James Supple collected three of the seven Hoya hits while Gazitua had two of them. The lead remained 3-2 until the Eagles scored two runs in the sixth to take the 4-3 advantage and victory. Georgetown added another run in the next inning taking a 3-2 lead as Ron Cano scored on a Gazitua RBI groundout. Sophomore Carlos Gazitua led off with a single and crossed the plate on second-year man Michael Lombardi?s homerun to center field. The Hoyas, trailing 2-0 entering the fourth, tied the game with two runs on two hits. Sutton, allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out six, walked only one and was inline for the win until he gave up two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth. Game One was a pitchers duel with Boston College?s Mark Sullivan getting the better of Sutton as he pitched a complete game seven hitter striking out 11 for the win. For the day the Hoyas collected 14 hits and earned four walks but stranded 14 runners, eight in scoring position. ? Georgetown baseball was unable to take advantage of a complete game performance in game one by Eric Sutton (4-6) and left eight runners on base in the second game of a doubleheader against the Eagles losing both games 4-3 and 9-2 respectively.
